Question Banks
Question banks are the building blocks of assessments. They can be reused and associated with multiple assessments. You can have fill in the blank, multiple choice, true/false, multiple select, or matching question types.
- Click Admin
- Click Learning Management
- Click Activity Management
- Click Question Banks. This will open a new window.
- Click Add. This will open a new dialog box.
- Input the Name
- Input a Description
- Click the Change button if you need to switch domains (if you have child domains)
- Click Change if you need to change the owner
- Click Change if you need to add additional topics or change selected topics
- Input a Code. Do not use spaces, underscores here are fine.
- Click Done. This will take you to a new screen
- Click Add Questions. This will take you to a new screen. Scroll down to see the steps for various question types.
Fill in the blanks
- Select the Question Type. This controls the rest of the fill ins. See below for how to complete other question types. Note: Fill in the blanks can be problematic as you have to try to account for whatever answer they would use; acronyms, full name, misspellings in the answer
- Put in the Question Code
- Put in your Question
- Input Question Feedback. This is to help individuals get the answer right.
- Put in the acceptable answers. Press Enter to input each answer that is valid. Remember people may use acronyms or misspell something.
- Provide Answer Feedback, if desired.
- Select if you want the answers to be Case Sensitive.
- Click Add Another Question to add questions or Done if you are finished
True / False Questions
- Select True / False
- Input the Question Code
- Input your Question
- Provide Question Feedback if desired
- Use the radio button to select the correct Answer.
- Choice will fill in.
- Provide Choice Feedback (if desired)
- Click Add Another Question to add questions or Done if you are finished
Multiple Choice
- Select Multiple Choice
- Put in the Question Code
- Put in your Question
- Provide Question Feedback if desired.
- Skip down to Choice; Input your Answer in the Choice field
- Click on Add (which is above Choice).
Note: The answer will automatically fill in the answer field above.
Note: Repeat steps 17 and 18 as many times as you need to get your multiple choice answers.
- Select the correct answer.
- Click Add Another Question to add questions or Done if you are finished
Multiple Select
- Choose Multiple Select
- Put in the Question Code
- Put in your Question
- Provide Question Feedback if desired.
- Skip down to Choice Input your Answer in the Choice field
- Click on Add (which is above Choice).
Note: The answer will automatically fill in the answer field above.
Note: Repeat steps 17 and 18 as many times as you need to get your multiple choice answers.
- Select the correct answers.
- Input a %age of 100 in the Score fields beside each answer. The scores can be weighted and need to add up to 100%. This allows you to assign weights to answers if you wish.
- Click Add Another Question to add questions or Done if you are finished
Matching Items
- Choose Matching Items
- Put in the Question Code
- Put in your Question
- Provide Question Feedback if desired.
- Skip down to Option on the left and put in an option.
- Skip down to Option on the right, and put in an option.
- Click on Add above Option on the Left.
Note: The answer will automatically fill in the answer field above.
Note: Repeat steps 17 and 19 as many times as you need to get your matching items answers.
- Input a %age of 100 in the Score fields beside each answer. The scores can be weighted and need to add up to 100%. This allows you to assign weights to answers if you wish.
- Add Option feedback if desired.
- Click Add Another Question to add questions or Done if you are finished
- Once you have all of the questions you desire. You need to publish the Question Bank by clicking on “other actions” and selecting “publish” in the drop down.
