How Do I Backup/Restore My Sticky Notes
If you have Windows 7/8/8.1/10 Version 1511, use these instructions: Instructions for Newer Windows 10 Versions are below. Anniversary Version 1607 and newer.
To BACKUP:
- Open Windows Explorer (Windows 7) or File Explorer (Windows 8), and copy and paste the location below into the address bar, and press Enter.

- Save a copy of the snt file wherever you would like to keep a backup of it.

NOTE: This file is your backup of the current Sticky Notes on your desktop.
TO RESTORE FROM YOUR BACKUP:

Delete all Sticky Notes you currently have on the Computer, if any.
NOTE: If you do not delete all other SNT files, the backed up StickyNotes.snt file from Option One will not be able to replace the other one in step 4 below. -
In Windows Explorer (Windows 7) or File Explorer (Windows 8), navigate to where you saved the backed up snt file and right click and choose Copy.

In Windows Explorer (Windows 7) or File Explorer (Windows 8), copy and paste the location below into the address bar, and press Enter.

Right click in the folder and paste the SNT file.
- You will get a pop up asking you to Copy and Replace, Don't Copy or Copy, but keep both files. Choose Copy and Replace.
- Your Sticky notes are now restored. Click Start, Program and click on Sticky Notes.
If you have Windows 10 Version 1607 and later, use these instructions:
To BACKUP:

Open File Explorer (Win+E).

Copy and paste the folder location below into the address bar of File Explorer, and press Enter.
%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState -
Copy the plum.sqlite file to where you like as a backup of your Sticky Notes.
(see screenshot below) - You can now close File Explorer if you like.
TO RESTORE FROM YOUR BACKUP:
- Open File Explorer (Win+E).
- Copy and paste the folder location below into the address bar of File Explorer, and press Enter.
%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState - Copy and paste the backed up plum.sqlite file from the Backup Steps above into the LocalState folder. (see screenshot below)
- Click/tap on Replace the file in the destination. (see screenshot below)
- You can now close File Explorer if you like.
