What is the Insights icon in Outlook?
After migration, you will see a button labeled Insights in the upper right hand corner of the tool bar.
What is the Email I received from MyAnalytics?
Just after migration, you will receive an initial email welcoming you to MyAnalytics. The email gives a link to Microsoft tutorials on MyAnalytics.
Each week, you will receive emails showing various metrics about Focus and Collaboration on a weekly basis, as well as a rolling 4 week trend.
There is also a link to your dashboard in MyAnalytics . The email will show tips on how to schedule focus time and other tools to help you be more productive. The bottom of the email allows you to unsubscribe from future emails.
What is the difference between MyAnalytics and Insights?
They are two sides of the same coin. MyAnalytics is a Microsoft machine learning platform that digests the data of its users’ habits and shows metrics on productivity and areas for improvement. Microsoft has labeled this “Insights”, but it is the same data being shown, just at a higher level with a more specific email and calendar suggestions.
At the present time, DES has only migrated Users email and calendar; therefore, metrics are somewhat limited. As we introduce more M365 applications, productivity metrics will be more meaningful.
Can I disable Insights?
DES is unable to disable the service as it is enabled by default by Microsoft and it is tenant wide. However, a User can opt out individually. Here is a link to a guide from Microsoft. Please be advised that the metrics may help you with productivity tools as the agency introduces additional M365 services.
I want to use Insights but the button is grayed out for me?
If the normal Outlook view does not include a reading pane, you will not see the Insights button. As soon as you create a new email, the button will be available.
I clicked on the Insights button but I get an error that says “something isn’t right”
It appears that Microsoft disabled the button on our current Outlook platform. We will be deploying the M365 version of Outlook in the coming months so that you may view this data within Outlook directly. You can go to your MyAnalytics Dashboard to begin and learn more about the service.
How do I get more information?
